Male reviews
All clinical practice guidelines agree on urological check-ups for men: starting at age 50 and starting at age 40 if there is a family history.
Age not only leads in many cases to the development of benign pathology (prostate hyperplasia) but also puts at risk the development of malignancy in some part of the prostate (prostate cancer).
The review consists of an interview or medical history, evaluation of blood and urine tests, examination and ultrasound. Most reviews are satisfactory and patients are recommended to return after a year.
How can you know if you are at risk for prostate cancer?
Well, if you are a man over 50 years old or if you have a family history from the age of 40, nothing is simpler than an annual visit to your urologist: you will know the benefits of early detection procedures and even, if you are in a group of high risk, existing medical treatment options to reduce that risk. If prostate cancer is detected in early stages, you have many treatment options with curative intent.
